  1. hey ashley, just wanted to say that im really proud of you.

your able to become vegan and stick with it because you know its right, even with the closed mindedness of your massillon crowd :P
and even though im not vegan, i think its great when anyone can do what they believe is right, and not cram it down other peoples throats and act like they're rightous.

and second, your incredibly talented. i've read a few posts now and im very impressed.

    keep up the hard work

    god bless!

    Adam

  3. @Anon: It's not like Massillon has anti-veg agenda or anything, but as I said in a previous post (that Adam was referring to) I don't find Massillon to be a place that is very warm or welcoming to new or different ideas. It's really just a personal opinion. Sorry if you feel differently, or were offended. I'd love to feel the veggie love when I'm at home, but I usually just don't.

  4. Wow, you post takes me back to when I discovered TVP and back to some other first-food encounters.

Now I want some :). Maybe I will make this recipe this weekend. I made it once before and it was pretty good:

Compassion Over Killing's Champion Chili ( with TVP ) recipe

  5. @ Charlene: TVP= Textured Vegetable Protein. It's a dried food that when reconstituted with water mimics the texture of ground meat. Great for meatballs or sloppy joes or, as it seems, Chili! Which, @ beforewisdom, sounds pretty delectable.

  6. After the oil is extracted to make soybean oil what is left is defatted soybeans. It is ground into flour, texturized, and then dried. What you get is a fat free soy bean with all of the nutrition with shapes and textures similar to meat.

  7. Hey Ashley -- Yeah, I'm pretty in love with On the Fly's falafel right now-- if you haven't tried it, you should. It's like spicy and sweet-- very bobby flay. :)

Oh and PS I heart TVP.

  8. Yeah, I'm def. getting that falafel today. It's made my life so much more delicious. Have you had any of their desserts? omg -- their carrot cup cakes cakes -- or the zucchini ones-- are soooo good.

Have you been to Dragonfly? I know it's like stupid expensive-- I've only gone a couple times. It's really delicious, too.

  10. I realize the header to your blog is smaller ass, but you should try those tartlets though-- They'd be super easy in your tiny kitchen and pretty frickin delicious. :)
